This creamy dreamy strawberry smoothie bowl is a refreshing breakfast made with only 4 ingredients! Top with your favorite granola and fresh strawberries for a vibrant breakfast bowl.

Why you’ll love this recipe:

  • Easy: Make this strawberry smoothie bowl with only 4 ingredients in about 5 minutes.
  • Healthy: This strawberry smoothie bowl is a healthy breakfast filled with nutritious ingredients that are high in antioxidants and vitamins from the strawberries, banana and non-dairy yogurt. No added sugar! It’s a great way get in some healthy vitamins first thing in the morning.
  • Vegan, glutenfree, dairyfree, and nut-free!

I’ll never get sick of a refreshing smoothie bowl (okay, maybe if I ate them every day). There are so many flavor and topping options you can literally never get bored! It’s a fun alternative to a traditional smoothie. This strawberry smoothie bowl is one of my favorites- creamy, smooth, and naturally sweet. It kind of reminds me of ice cream (but healthy!) This is not a “replacement” for ice cream, but the creamy texture is similar!

I highly recommend this broccoli smoothie recipe, kale beet smoothie or healthy gut smoothie for a nutrient packed breakfast!

What you Need

  • Frozen strawberries: I recommend frozen strawberries for this smoothie bowl to obtain the thick, creamy texture that cannot be attained with fresh strawberries. Try to avoid adding large chunks of frozen strawberries to blender as it will make it harder to blend (smaller pieces work best).
  • Frozen banana: Similar to the strawberries, make sure your banana is frozen. Using a frozen overripe banana will add even more natural sweetness that tastes great with this bowl!
  • Non-dairy yogurt: I like almond or soy yogurt that is unsweetened and plain.
  • Non-dairy milk: You won’t use much milk, but a little bit helps it blend. You can use soy, almond, or oat milk. I prefer a vanilla, sweetened version for a smoothie bowl. For an ultra creamy and rich smoothie bowl, you can try light coconut milk from the can.

How to Make a Strawberry Smoothie Bowl

  1. In a high speed blender add your strawberries, banana, milk, and chia seeds.
  2. Blend on high for a minute, scrape down sides or use your tamper, and blend again.
  3. Blend until the smoothie bowl has a consistency of soft serve.
  4. Pour into bowl and top with granola, fresh strawberries, hemp seeds, and whatever else you desire!

Common Questions

Do I need a high speed blender for a smoothie bowl?

A high-speed blender such as a Vitamix is helpful to create a thick, creamy texture. If you don’t have one, you can use a regular blender or food processor but you will likely have to add more milk to help it blend.

What toppings can I put on this strawberry smoothie bowl?

My favorite part of a smoothie bowl is the toppings! This bowl is easily customizable with your favorite toppings:

  • Dried or fresh fruit: Sliced strawberries are perfect on top! You can also add lots of fruit like blueberries, raspberries or blackberries. Dried goji berries are also delicious on top.
  • Granola: Sprinkle with homemade granola like this 15 minute stovetop granola or find a granola at your grocery store.
  • Seeds: Hemp seeds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and more!
  • Cacao nibs or mini chocolate chips
  • Coconut flakes

What else can I add to this Strawberry Smoothie Bowl?

  • Protein powder: Add more plant-based protein to your healthy strawberry smoothie bowl. Vanilla protein powder would be delicious!
  • More sweetener: Maple syrup or agave for some extra sweetness
  • Nut Butter: Peanut butter or almond butter
  • Other seeds: such as ground flaxseed or hemp seeds for extra fiber
  • Non-dairy yogurt: such as almond or soy or plant-based Greek yogurt

– TOP TIPS –

  • Use a powerful blender such as a Vitamix so you can obtain a thick consistency without needing to add more water or milk.
  • Use only frozen fruit to get the perfect texture.
  • Avoid adding too much liquid.
  • Add ingredients that create thicker consistency: chia seed or ground flaxseed.
  • Don’t rush it! A thick smoothie bowl takes time. You will have to scrape down the sides of the blender a few times.
  • Add ice cubes to thicken (not too much or your bowl will lose some of the strawberry flavor).
  • Use a tamper in your high speed blender during the blending process (A tamper is a tool used with a blender to push the ingredients closer to the blade).
