Viral Iced Matcha Latte

I finally unlocked the secrets to the perfect homemade iced matcha latte....This recipe requires no fancy equipment like bamboo whisks or frothers. It mimics the Starbucks matcha latte - shaken to perfection and is clump-free! I found the best matcha powder & milk for the creamiest latte combination- and no - it doesn't taste like grass!

Equipment

  • Basic Whisk
  • Cocktail Shaker or Mason jar with lid
  • Glass for serving for latte

Ingredients

  • 1.5 tsp matcha powder ceremonial grade*
  • 2 tbsp warm water
  • 3/4 cup soy milk or another milk of choice, plus more for the top, if desired
  • 1-2 tsp maple syrup or another sweetener of choice
  • ice

Instructions

  • In a small bowl add your matcha powder with your warm water. Use a basic kitchen whisk to mix and get rid of most of the clumps (This doesn't have to be perfect, the shaker will also break up remaining clumps.)
1.5 tsp matcha powder, 2 tbsp warm water
  • Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker (matcha mixture, milk, sweetener, ice).
Cover and shake for 30 seconds.
3/4 cup soy milk, 1-2 tsp maple syrup, ice
  • Pour into a glass - either with or without ice. The latte will already be chilled from the icey shaker! Enjoy!

Tips/Questions
Ceremonial Grade Matcha Powder: This is the highest quality matcha powder made from young tea leaves. It is less bitter and will give your drink a natural sweetness. I personally have loved this Naoki Ceremonial Grade Matcha Powder!
Milk: I love soy milk for this recipe for multiple reasons: it's naturally very creamy and higher in protein (8g per cup!), which is better than other non-dairy milks like oat or almond.  If you prefer something else, you can use oat milk or regular dairy milk (if you are not dairy-free).
Sweetener: I personally love the flavor of maple syrup, but you can also use honey or simple syrup instead.

What if I don't have a cocktail shaker?
No worries! Here are some great alternatives:
- Protein bottle with shaker
- Mason jar with lid
-Reusable water bottle
